The Kaleidoimg variation is one of the most “fun” variations in Jwildfire. It uses an image you supply to create various repeat patterns of that image.
Step 1
Click on New from scratch to start a new flame
Step 2
Click on Add to add a variation
Step 3
Change that variation to kaleidoimg. Where it says Params, you should see image_filename.
Step 4
Click on the gear wheel to the far right. This should bring up a window where you can browse for an image or photo. Most image file types are supported.
Step 5
Click Open to select the image file you want to use.
Step 6
If the list of the parameters isn’t already showing, click on the little green arrow to make it appear.
Step 7
Scroll down to type. The parameter for this is set to zero by default.
Step 8
To see your selected image as a pattern, change the 0 to 1 or another number. Different numbers or changes in several of the parameters, not just the Type settings, will result in different patterns using your image.
You can’t break the computer by pushing buttons or changing values in the parameters. So go out and experiment with other settings and see what happens. There are no rules for exploring fractals, so there’s no such thing as a mistake – just a new design idea
Have fun!
