By Rick Sidwell

Several guides have been made to help people understand and compare the many variations available for use in flame fractal programs like Apophysis and JWildfire. They typically take a base flame and show the results of the different variations on it. This guide takes a different approach: Rather than using a common base flame, it uses one that best shows the effect of the particular variation. The hope is that it will make it more clear just what each variation does. This is a PDF document.

This information has been created by Rick Sidwell as a guide to the more popular variations used in fractal flames. Not all of the variations are included with JWildfire, but a great many are, so it is worthwhile learning about them here.
