If, like I did, find your settings in JWildfire get a little screwy and you’re not sure how to fix them, or where to look. The properties file is a good place to start. Often overlooked, in fact I’d had to alter it before, and had to do some searching to find out where it was located first of all.
JWildfire uses this file to control the settings for where various file paths are stored for example. You can change in the settings part of the software, but sometimes that doesn’t seem to save correctly, or there are other settings you want to change.
Location
I’ve no idea where to find this file on a mac, or Linux, but the file you’re looking for is called j-wildfire.properties and you’ll find it at \users\yourname\ on the PC. Usually on the C drive C:\users\yourname\j-wildfire.properties . Before you do anything with it, it’s worth making a copy of it as a backup.
Layout
The file itself is a text file and can be opened and edited with a text editor, like notepad built in to Windows, or Notepad ++ which is a downloadable package. Here is a sample file, again, make a backup before editing this on your computer. If something goes wrong copy the backup back to the location you found it. You’ll note that there are double slash characters, keep to this when entering paths or it will break.

Problems
In my case, the problem was that it was looking in the users\username area for my pictures. Changing the pictures entry to the location of my pictures folder on another drive, solved that.
