About JWildfire

About JWildfire

JWildfire is the spiritual successor of the award winning image-processing software Wildfire\7PPC for the Amiga in the old days. But, this time implemented using a high-level language (Java), with a more sophisticated user interface, and many more cool effects, modules and features such as flame-fractals. Hopefully, becoming the product which was initially in mind (Unfortunately, in the old days the computers were not as powerful and some of the concepts of the original software did not work. They were too slow, not stable or both) What does this mean? In short, the primary goal of the software is ...

6 Interesting Design
A flame in JWildfire is the set of variations and transforms you've used to create your design. We're going to go through some steps here to make a very simple fractal.

1 New From Scratch

After running JWildfire you need to click New From Scratch to begin our fractal (your screen might be differently coloured to this)

2 Add A Transform

Without getting technical, a transform is the first instruction, it will contain one or more variations. A variation is what alters the method of creating the fractal. By default when you click on Add it will put a ...

How to play with a flame - Beginners Guide
If you're absolutely new to JWildfire, or haven't really tried altering (tweaking) someone elses flame, here's a bare bones guide on how to do this. Nothing technical, just what to click and what to play with.

Copy the flame

First thing you'll need to do is copy your flame ready to use in JWildfire, so if you can see it on a post somewhere, just highlight it with your mouse and then right click and choose copy. Or if it's been posted to Pastebin do the same (I prefer to scroll down the page to get the RAW code) ...

JWildfire 5_5 Release
JWildfire 5.50 release: Introducing gradient-curve-editor as new artistic tool By Andreas Maschke Just released JWildfire V5.50 as another major update. This time, introducing a new color-editing-function that makes it easier to control the final result: the color-curve-editor. It allows a very interactive editing of the gradient and the flame at the same time. Additionally, it allows more direct control over modifying the colors of a gradient, making it much easier to create “dramatic” effects. (Internally, each gradient now consist both of the “classic” part of the gradient and three new curves: hue, saturation and luminosity. Those curves belong to the flames, and are also stored within the flame-files.) A BIG thanks to Jesus, Rick, Brad and Michael (in no particular order) for their valuable contributions! - New "Curve Editor" for gradients at the gradient tab. This gives much more control over the final result because it allows a very interactive ...
